About
Modern Communications

Our Story
In August of 1978, Don Johnson founded Modern Communications with an aim to sell Patient Education Programs to hospitals and medical centers in the St. Louis Area. Don’s and his brother, Bill, became a two-man team and established the business out of a small office in Crestwood, Missouri. Bill began to seek-out suppliers in video hardware (VCRs, monitors, cameras and accessories) than in Patient Education Programs, hoping to tap into an unidentified market. Modern partnered with Panasonic Professional dealer in Sikeston, Missouri to pursue the growing need for video hardware. In 1980, as the broadcast market grew, Modern became a direct Panasonic dealer.
By 1983, Modern Communications had outgrown their Crestwood office and moved to a larger facility in Fenton.

The Company now employed four people, offered numerous lines of equipment to their clientele and established an in-house service center.
Over the next ten years, Modern Communications continued to thrive and in Spring 1993, Don and Bill broke ground at the site of the current office. Today, Modern Communications’ 12,500 square foot headquarters and warehouse continues to grow.
